Is Dexter: Resurrection based on a book?

Common questions

Is Dexter: Resurrection based on a book?

Partly. Dexter: Resurrection is credited as based on the Dexter TV series and on Jeff Lindsay's Dexter novels, where the character of Dexter Morgan began. Its story is original, though: it is a sequel to Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, developed by showrunner Clyde Phillips, and it does not adapt a specific book. Season 2 premieres on Paramount+ on October 30, 2026.

Who wrote the book Dexter: Resurrection is based on?

Dexter: Resurrection is based on the Dexter novels by Jeff Lindsay.

When did Dexter: Resurrection come out?

Dexter: Resurrection premiered on Friday, October 30, 2026 on Paramount+.

Should I read the book before watching Dexter: Resurrection?

If you like knowing the full story first, read the Dexter novels before you watch. Adaptations often change or condense the plot, so the book is a different experience even if you've seen the show.
